About Me
I've worked as a Data Analyst for a few years now. Officially, my job is to provide data analysis for strategic projects, present our findings to stakeholders, and curate dashboards providing a self-service analytics solution to colleagues. But really? I solve problems.
I completed my Ph.D. in Solar Physics in 2018, focussing on the topology of the magnetic field in the solar corona. As part of this work, we provided a definition for a new topological feature, the Null-like Point (paper published in 2020, available here), along with developing an algorithm for the automatic detection, tracking and analysis of X-ray Bright Points.
The Ph.D. was my entry point into programming and it really stuck for me. I've dabbled in Python a fair bit since, tried some Lua modding Project Zomboid, and picked up experience with SQL through work. One of my earlier jobs as a sys admin introduced me to Git and Puppet, and that was enough for me to want to use Git with side projects too.
I'm still not really sure what this space is going to be yet. I started it back in 2020, ignored it for a few years, and now I'm trying to do something with it again in 2025. We'll see what happens.
